André Boersma — COO
André Boersma served as Managing Director at Sailrock, where he was responsible for implementing service standards and managing all aspects of resort operations, including infrastructure, sales, marketing, and financial teams.
His career is marked by more than 20 years of management experience within the ultra-luxury and luxury resort and residential segments. He has spearheaded resort openings and transitions/rebranding initiatives for companies such as Rosewood, Auberge, One&Only, Viceroy, and Discovery Land Company.
Mr. Boersma also led pre-opening teams and service standards at properties such as One&Only Palmilla and Las Ventanas al Paraíso. In parallel, he held roles including Chief Operating Officer at Danzante Bay & Villa del Palmar Resort and COO & GM at Playa Grande Golf & Ocean Club.
Taryn Laeben (NY)
Founder of IRL Ventures, a bespoke early-stage advisory and investment firm.
A go-to-market expert, Taryn has focused her career on empowering founder vision and unlocking hyper-growth for mission-driven companies.
She previously served as COO of SoulCycle and CCO of Casper, where she led large-scale expansion and strategic growth initiatives.
George Sotelo (DR)
Vice President of Hospitality at Grupo Puntacana.
His career is marked by extensive experience in the ultra-luxury resort sector, where he has played a key role in the development and management of prestigious properties.
Before joining Grupo Puntacana, Sotelo served as General Manager of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico, and as Hotel Manager at One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Tyler Carrico (SF)
Founder of Derive Ventures, an early-stage venture fund investing in the next generation of hospitality experiences and real estate.
Tyler spent four years at Thayer Ventures, where he was directly involved in deploying US$50 million across 12 portfolio companies.
Prior to Thayer Ventures, he worked in investment banking within BofA Merrill Lynch’s Technology, Media & Telecom group.
Jeff Senior (SF)
Chief Commercial Officer at Peregrine Resorts (formerly KSL Resorts).
He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Fairmont and held multiple leadership positions with Marriott, Kimpton, and IHG. His commercial expertise spans the United States, Canada, Western Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, India, and China.
Mike Scott (CO)
Founder of Derive Ventures, an early-stage venture fund investing in next-generation hospitality experiences at Tayryn RE.
Before co-founding DV, Mike spent more than three years at KSL Capital Partners, where he participated in over US$4 billion in transactions involving U.S. hospitality, timeshare, all-inclusive resorts, travel distribution, gaming, and alternative accommodations.
Prior to KSL, Mike worked in J.P. Morgan’s Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging group.
